Welcome.

You are whole. You are beautiful. You are welcome. You are not alone. Let’s walk together a spell on this crazy pilgrimage called the human experience.

my work

I sculpt in clay and found objects because I have to. I have to expel the excess of feelings out of my body. I have to know that what I feel is real and see it as a tangible thing in front of me. I have to use my hands. And I just have to pick up those broken mirror shards and pretty feathers off the ground. I feel so deeply connected to the natural world and the spiritual dimensions it offers as well as to my own body and the emotions within it. Creating helps me feel less alone. I hope my work makes you feel more connected, less alone, and more whole.

I started sculpting in high school with wire and fell in love. I then found lost wax casting and fell even more head over heels. I love exploring different mediums and being surprised by the process. Clay is my true love (for now) because I love how expressive it can be and how tactile it feels in my hands. But I can never finish a piece without adding another layer of symbolism and meaning with found objects. I think my fascination with found objects started in a young and idealistic environmentalist streak with not being willing to throw things in the landfill. As I grew older my connection with nature deepened and I started picking up pretty feathers, seeds, shells, and flowers. I love discovering new meaning and connection in the found objects I add to my pieces and how they can enhance the story I’m telling.

about me

I grew up playing in the rich red dirt of Sedona, AZ and climbing on the pervasive bronze sculptures of its art world while waiting for my parents on family outings. Mother Nature’s natural red rock sculptures were my playground. And as an adult, living in Flagstaff since 2010 the mountains, volcanoes, and canyons of the Colorado plateau speak to my soul. Northern Arizona is a sculptural land filled with deep history and lots of emotion. It has also always been a spiritual landscape for me. The land has shaped me and tells me stories of my life and how to be a human being. It is those stories that I hope to share with you in my work. When I’m not sculpting I can be found hiking, reading, enjoying time with my friends and family, or traveling with my husband Ryan Biter, a professional touring musician.
